The Birthplace of Country Music proudly presents another exciting edition of the RTE 23 Listening Room Concert Series! Enjoy an incredible night with combined talents of Lauren and Jason Morrow of The Whiskey Gentry—a favorite act of Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion. Lauren and Jason will also be joined by a full band for the special event.
On Friday, February 16 the duo will appear at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum in Historic Downtown Bristol and they’ll perform at The Inn at Wise in Wise, Virginia on Saturday, February 24th.
Formed in 2009 by husband and wife songwriting duo Lauren Staley and Jason Morrow, The Whiskey Gentry sound dwells most generally under the country category, but to stifle them with that label isn’t fair. Lauren Staley’s voice, as thoroughly Americana as any of her folk counterparts, rings as clear as a bell. There’s some honky-tonk in their DNA, a wink at bluegrass, but there’s also a hint of garage rock.
The band’s third studio record, Dead Ringer, was released released in April 2017 on Pitch-A-Tent Records. Recorded at Asheville’s Echo Mountain Studio, the album peaked in the Top 40 of the Americana Music Charts and made many of the year’s “Best Of” lists.
