Sorry, tickets for this event are now sold out! Tune in to ListenRadioBristol.org to hear the Listening Party for the transcription disc and watch Farm and Fun Time on Facebook Live!

In 2018, the Birthplace of Country Music Museum asked for your vote in the Virginia Association of Museums’ Top 10 Endangered Artifacts competition. Each vote was a step towards the preservation of a Farm and Fun Time radio transcription disc containing live tracks that had not been heard in over 60 years. Well, your votes won through, we received financial support from VAM to preserve the disc, and it was soon sent off to the Northeast Document Conservation Center for the delicate task of putting the disc back together and extracting the songs and sounds of this original live recording of the Stanley Brothers with the Clinch Mountain Boys.

You can read all about this long and high-tech process here and here, but better yet, you can now hear this disc too! If you are a February Farm and Fun Time ticket-holder, be sure to come early on February 13 so you can hear the disc played in full before the live show. We’ll be playing it at 6:30pm with doors opening at 6:00pm. If you can’t make the show, be sure to listen online via Facebook Live when we will also broadcast the Farm and Fun Time transcription disc. You don’t want to miss out!

Farm and Fun Time hearkens back to the days of classic live radio and features today’s top traditional country, bluegrass and old-time artists. We’re proud to bring back this historic program to a new generation of listeners.

Hosted by Kris Truelsen and featuring house band Bill and the Belles, Farm and Fun Time is a celebration of Appalachian music and culture with various segments jingles and featured artists.

Enjoy the show every second Thursday monthly, live in person at the museum by purchasing a ticket, or listen online at listenradiobristol.org or through our mobile App for iOS and Android.

Farm and Fun Time is proudly supported by Eastman Credit UnionWindow World of Tri-Cities, and HVAC Bristol.

About Wayne Henderson & Presley Barker

Wayne Henderson is a National Heritage Fellowship recipient and world-renowned luthier and finger-picking guitar player.

At age 14, Presley Barker has been playing acoustic guitar for seven years. Living in the mountains or North Carolina and listening to Doc Watson on the radio inspired Presley to begin picking fiddle tunes and bluegrass music. He has been influenced and mentored by Steve Lewis, Wayne Henderson, and Bryan Sutton. He has quickly emerged as an astonishingly gifted flat-picker. In the summer of 2015, Presley won first place in the prestigious Adult Guitar Competition at the 80th Annual Galax Old Fiddler’s Convention in Virginia, and in the summer of 2016, he was named West Virginia State Flatpicking Guitar Champion.

About The Kody Norris Show

Call it retro, hillbilly, bluegrass or rockabilly, the group strives for something Kody simply calls “dern good entertainment.” Deeply rooted in North American folk music, Norris has crafted a performance that tips a hat to the traditions created by Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin’s showmanship, the Stanley Brothers’ harmonies, performances of the Grand Ole Opry and a bit of Vaudeville. Top-notch picking is center stage, but humor and visual flash are part of the entertaining package. Always clad in colorful, tailored suits adorned with rhinestones, ties, classic hats and ornate boots, the band earns its moniker as a “show.” The brand is traditional, clean cut, acoustic and always entertaining.
