Larry Cordle

Larry Cordle (Nashville, Tenn.) is a native of eastern Kentucky. He has taken the music of his youth and mixed it with personality and songwriting abilities that today command attention in the crowded country music scene in Nashville. His latest hit with his band Lonesome Standard Time, "Murder on Music Row," which was covered by neo- traditionalists George Strait and Alan Jackson, has become a smash hit on the American music charts and has everyone in the industry talking. The song laments the dominance of "drum and rock 'n' roll guitars," as well as the absence of steel guitars, fiddles and soulful lyrics in today's mainstream country music and has become an anthem for the disenfranchised fans of traditional country music. For Cordle, it is another in a long line of songwriting hits (including songs performed by Garth Brooks, George Strait, Kathy Mattea, and Diamond Rio) that began with childhood friend Ricky Skaggs' [1] version of "Highway 40 Blues."
