Kenny Chesney never considered a career as an entertainer before taking an introductory guitar course while attending East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. As a member of the ETSU Bluegrass and Country Music Program, Chesney polished his songwriting and performance skills, even accompanying the group on its tour of Russia in 1990. With hard work and determination, Chesney made his way through the hoops, first performing at local bars while completing a marketing degree, then moving to Nashville to write for Acuff-Rose Music. In 1994, he was offered a recording contract with BNA records. Now, one cannot listen to country radio for very long without hearing a Chesney song, including "All I Need To Know," "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" and "What I Need To Do."

At the 2004 CMA Awards, Kenny was awarded "Album of the Year" for his platinum-selling When The Sun Goes Down and "Entertainer of the Year". Kenny also won the fan-voted American Music Awards "Artist of the Year" the AMA Awards show.
