The theme for the year-long celebration is "Celebrating 150 Years of Heritage and Harmony."
The border town of Bristol Tennessee/Virginia was founded in the year 1852 by Joseph Rhea Anderson, and bordered to the north by the town of Goodsonville, Virginia founded the same year by Colonel Samuel Eason Goodson. Bristol Tennessee was incorporated February 22, 1856 and a composite town of Goodson, composed of Bristol Virginia and Goodsonville, was incorporated March 5, 1856 on the Virginia side.
The focal point for the celebration will be the 4th of July weekend.
