Six-time International Bluegrass Music Association Vocal Group of the Year winner, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver will perform at the Paramount Center for the Arts.
Doyle Lawson grew up in a small community outside of Kingsport and his roots were founded by his family’s love for the Grand Ole Opry and gospel music. He attributes much of his inspiration for the mandolin to the radio performances of Bill Monroe. By age 11 Lawson had mastered the mandolin and by 19 he was playing with Jimmy Martin, as well as J.D. Crowe and the Country Gentlemen. Deciding he wanted to form his own sound, Lawson formed “Doyle Lawson and QuickSilver” in 1979. Although there have been changes in band members since that time DL&Q has grown to be one of the top acts in bluegrass throughout the years.
Lawson’s annual event is one of the most anticipated bluegrass concerts regionally. Make sure to get your tickets early and don’t miss the musical and vocal talents of Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver!
Tickets will go on sale 9:00 a.m. October 30, 2006. Please call the Paramount Box Office (423)274-8920 to purchase with a credit card. If there is no answer, please leave a voice mail and calls will be returned in the order in which they were received.
